So, midterm week is a crazy busy time, and because of that I’ve been working non-stop for the past few days = no new posts. But now, I’ve got a bit of a breather period (till tomorrow!) and decided this is probably the only time I’ll have to update y’all on my life till maybe next week or something, but maybe I’ll write up a few and scatter them around like easter eggs. Or something. More like those chocolate Christmas calendars. Yeah, that makes a better analogy.
Alors, Canada’s Wonderland hosts a “Halloween haunt” or “Fear fest” every year in the month of October in preparation for Halloween, of course. It’s a month of festivities and horror, freaks and monsters, cobwebs and scared little girls. I am not a fan of scary things (though maybe deep down I secretly being able to hide behind something and/or someone), but I am a fan of rollercoasters and Wonderland. So, Sneezy and I trekked up highway 400 to the theme park.
I’ve never been to the Halloween haunt before and I’m not sure what I was expecting apart from the usual rides and some people dressed up. I guess I should have expected that they deck the entire place out in Halloween gear. It was dark, it was cold, and it was kind of scary with all the costumed employees walking about. I hate clowns. And there was a scary one there. Jekyll and Hyde were walking about, they came really close to me and I was not at all amused.
Apart from the rides, they also have a bunch of scary mazes and attractions that are only available at this time of year. Corn mazes where things pop out at you, clown mansions or something. We stuck to the rides, and it was rather fun. The lines are shorter than they would be in the summer; the park is only open from 19:00–midnight.
This was a big factor in bringing us here. Funnel cake at Wonderland is famous and rightly so. It is so delicious. The batter is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The soft-serve ice cream contrasts so well with the warm cakey substance. The strawberries don’t taste like strawberries (bonus!) but rather like strawberry jam. The red sauce is so yummy. I guess it’s kind of like the infamous McDonald’s french fries in a McFlurry, just so good. Powdered sugar poured over the top, how can you go wrong? Nothing, I tell you. Nothing. Just looking at a picture of it makes me crave it some more. Does anyone know where I can get some delicious funnel cake in Toronto without having to trek all the way up north?
This man was terrifying.
Happy Halloween, y’all.
